The Tel Aviv school system accepted 25 new pupils in 2007 - child refugees from Darfur. The children, who escaped unimaginable horrors in their native land and suffered hardships in Egypt, began the school year with the hope of a better life. For some, it was the first time they had attended school in years.
Western media has been reluctant to identify the religion and ethnicity of the mass murderers and rapists of innocent civilians of Darfur, Sudan.
In Sudan there is a religious component to the violence. The government in Khartoum is an Islamo-fascist one.
One must be cognizant of the historic context of the situation in Sudan. The genocide in Darfur is an example of Arab racism toward non-Arabs within the broader "Arab world." The killings of non-Arabs or non-Muslims is not just rooted in Islamic jihad, but also in Arab racism. Other similar situations of ethnic cleansing occurred under Saddam Hussein's genocidal campaign against Kurds and the Algerian government's oppression of the Kaybles.
