Children of Yemeni Jews in Raida district of Amran province were assaulted by Yemeni Muslim students this week.
Some Jewish kids were injured, one seriously, when Muslim students threw stones at them.
Zaher Kafra, a Jewish child, was seriously wounded and immediately taken to the Raida Hospital for treatment.
This took place one day after the authorities announced preparations for relocating the Jewish Community in Amran to live in the capital Sana’a following of threats members of the community have recently received.
In early December a gunman shot and killed a Yemeni Jew in the Raydah district in northern Yemen. Thirty-nine year-old Mousa Yaish al-Nahari, a father of eight, was reportedly shot for no reason aside from the fact that he was Jewish.
Arab media said the gunman was identified as Abdul-Aziz Yahya al-Abdi, a former air force pilot. He was arrested in Raydah in Amran.
Police are still investigating the motive of the crime, but witnesses say the gunman approached al-Nahari and told him "Jew, accept Islam's message" and then shot him five times with an AK-47 assault rifle.
Al-Abdi is alleged to have murdered his wife two years ago but was not jailed because he agreed to pay compensation to the wife's family.
Today there are around 300 Jews living in Yemen. More than 50,000 indigenous Yemeni Jews were secretly airlifted to Israel from 1940-1950 due to intense persecution against Yemeni Jews.
