While the conventional wisdom of anti-Israel folk is that checkpoints are meant to humiliate Palestinians and make their lives difficult, the truth of the matter is that they are absolutely necessary when one considers the contigious attempts by Palestinian suicide bombers to enter Israel. Failed suicide bombing attempts, even though they are frequent, practically never make international headlines. Brave Israeli soldiers monitor checkpoints daily to make certain terrorists do not enter the country. Terrorists have used many methods of trying to carry out attacks against Israelis, including sending pregnant Palestinian bombers and child bombers who have been stopped at checkpoints. Below is a glimpse into how IDF servicemen check Palestinians.
People don't seem to care that Israelis are searched numerous times a day as well. Israelis are told to open their bags and purses for inspection. They are subjected to body searches with a metal detector every time they enter a bank or a post office, pick up a bottle of milk at the supermarket, enter a mall or train station, or visit a hospital or medical clinic. Young Israelis, both men and women, are physically frisked in search of suicide belts before they enter crowded nightclubs.
Before entering a wedding hall, Israeli citizens find themselves being searched for weapons and bombs. How come no one talks about this? Certainly this can also be a humiliating and unpleasant experience.
As someone who has spent time in Israel, I can attest to the fact that I was searched whenever I entered a coffee shop, mall or club. It doesn't matter what you wear or what you look like -- you will be searched.
The leftist human rights groups sometimes cause more problems that the Palestinians. Do you think they give a sh*t about the residents in Sderot who have their rights violated every day??? People act as if other countries don't have checkpoints and borders. May G-d keep the IDF safe.
