Navy SEALs Face Charges for Allegedly Giving Terrorist Fat Lip

Hat Tip: Carlos Echevarria

Those who orchestrated the attacks on the World Trade Center are now entitled to due process afforded in a civilian criminal justice system. Yet three brave Navy SEALs who apprehended a terrorist are courting controversy for allegedly giving him a fat lip.

Here are some details, courtesy of Fox News:
Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And three of the SEALs who captured him are now facing criminal charges, sources told FoxNews.com.

The three, all members of the Navy's elite commando unit, have refused non-judicial punishment — called an admiral's mast — and have requested a trial by court-martial.

Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named "Objective Amber," told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.

Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers.
If found guilty the Navy SEALs could lose or forfeit some pay and/or will be sentenced to mild confinement. As for the U.S. being held to a higher standard, fighting wars against brutal religious lunatics is incredibly complex and our military often fights with their hands tied behind their backs. Those fanatics, who lynched and burned contractors, are not decent people who should be treated with kid gloves. I can imagine that it is very difficult for those in the military to operate when they have to put their own lives at risk and treat enemies with undeserved respect.

They should have shot him on site. It was what he deserved. Who even knows if the barbarian is telling the truth???? He enjoyed burning those Blackwater contractors to a crisp and we're supposed to care about his fat lip?

This is unbelievable! First of all, I don't think there is enough evidence that he was harmed by the Navy SEALs. Another Navy SEAL saw him in good health, the article says. Second of all, even if he was punched it could have been when he was apprehended. And third of all, I don't really care if evil terrorists are roughed up a bit. I know this will irritate some but it is the truth. Attribute it to my Italian mindset. I hear too many stories of brave marines or soldiers who put their lives on the line. They save their buddies, take out a terrorist and sometimes get in trouble for doing exactly what they should be doing. Meanwhile KSM will be given a trial in New York.

God, what is wrong with this country? Some days I can't figure out how we've come to this point. The SEALs deserve a prize, not a reduction in pay. Did Daniel Pearl get treated with any kind of respect? He was a civilian journalist and was massacred. A despicable terrorist is gaining sympathy from the Left for probably making up a story?

I agree with your article and view. This is an outrage.

Absolute insanity. How can the military do their job like this?

Unbelivable! They should have been given a metal! What is wrong with those in charge. I am outraged.
